11:10 am – 12:50 pm — Specialty Contact Lenses: A Guide For Technicians, Opticians & Coordinators
Speaker: Crystal Mamola, ABO-AC ABO/NCLE CE Hours: 2 — Course Level: Pending Description: Developing and scaling a specialty contact lens vertical fails when practices treat custom medical devices like high-volume retail commodities. Designed specifically for opticians, contact lens specialists and clinical support staff, this 2-hour course provides a complete operational roadmap for managing specialty lens pipelines. Attendees will learn how staff-led diagnostic pipelines (corneal topography, AS-OCT) can capture up to 90% of technical data before the doctor enters the room, slashing provider chair time and eliminating practice bottlenecks. Participants will master office organization SOPs — including appointment scheduling, lab tracking, global fee structures and handling warranty windows. Finally, the course demystifies third-party billing by equipping support teams with staff-driven prior authorization workflows, code pairings (CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10), and financial liability waivers to protect practice cash flow.
12:50 – 1:00 pm — Q&A
1:05 – 1:55 pm — Everybody Loves Warby (And Why ECPs Should Too)
Speaker: David Friedfeld ABO-NCLE CE Hours: 1 — Course Level: Pending Description: Warby Parker is a fantastic retailer whose product selection, pricing, knowledge of consumers and online expertise changed the way eyewear was being dispensed. With a dream and a group of young entrepreneurial types, the company debuted on the eyewear scene in 2010, built a nationally recognized brand, attracted significant investment, and reported that 50% of its traffic or sales came through word of mouth. ALL, initially without managed care, licensed branded product and ODs as the backbone of its business. The company continues to meet customers where they are by evolving its offering, which now includes vision insurance, eye exams, contact lenses, physical stores, Virtual Try-On and its AI-powered Advisor shopping experience. Come learn what you can be doing right in your practice if you want to stay relevant in 2026 and beyond.
1:55 – 2:05 pm — Q&A
2:05 – 2:25 pm — Break
2:25 – 3:15 pm — Protecting Vision — Essential Ocular Hygiene For Patients
Speaker: Crystal Anthony, ABOC ABO/NCLE CE Hours: 1 — Course Level: Ophthalmic I Description: Opticians play a crucial role in educating patients on maintaining and restoring ocular surface health. From pharmaceutical therapies and in-office treatments to simple at-home hygiene routines, opticians can guide patients in adopting effective eye care habits. Research shows that patients are eager to learn and willing to adhere to proper ocular hygiene when advised by a trusted healthcare professional. This course will outline essential ocular hygiene practices and strategies for patient education. Topics include hydration, lid hygiene, warm compresses and the impact of various environmental and lifestyle factors on ocular health.
3:15 – 3:25 pm — Q&A
3:30 – 5:10 pm — Beyond The Prompt: Practical AI For Optical & Contact Lens Teams
Speaker: Shaun Damico ABO/NCLE CE Hours: 2 — Course Level: Pending Description: This two-hour continuing education course explores practical, less commonly discussed applications of artificial intelligence specifically for optical and contact lens teams. Rather than focusing on general AI productivity, attendees will learn how AI can be used to support staff training, eyewear troubleshooting, remake analysis, patient communication, contact lens information gathering, insertion and removal coaching, patient education, and follow-up support. The emphasis throughout the course is on using AI to strengthen professional judgment, communication, and training without replacing optical expertise, established practice protocols, or clinical decision-making.
