Event Summary

PECAA is pleased to announce its next COPE virtual education event: Classroom Confidence: Clear Vision For Every Pupil. Taking place on Sunday, August 23rd, 11:00 am – 5:10 pm ET, this event will provide six (6) hours of COPE-accredited clinical continuing education to optometrists across the country and will be presented in a synchronous, virtual Zoom webinar format. In accordance with current COPE/ARBO guidelines, there are no testing requirements for synchronous virtual formatted courses to count as COPE-approved CE credits.

Each PECAA education event provides impactful instruction on a targeted area relevant to contemporary eye care practice. Timed to coincide with the back-to-school season, the August 23 event will focus on the visual and ocular health needs of pediatric patients. Attendees will gain practical knowledge in pediatric examination techniques, binocular vision and visual processing concerns, pharmacological management, refractive error care and the recognition of conditions that may affect a child's success both in and out of the classroom.

Classroom Confidence: Clear Vision For Every Pupil will provide clinical pearls and real-world strategies to help practitioners identify, manage and confidently discuss pediatric vision concerns with patients, parents and colleagues. The event is open to all optometrists nationwide, including PECAA Max members, HEA Advantage members and non-members — PECAA Propel student members are also invited to join us. We look forward to welcoming you to this event.

Speaker: Eric Chow, OD, FAAO, FOVDR
CE Hours: 2 — COPE Course ID: Pending
Description:
There’s more to a child’s vision than the letters on an eye chart. From eye teaming and focusing to tracking, visual processing and the everyday visual demands of the classroom, pediatric vision care spans a lot of ground — and much of it hides behind common complaints like headaches, reading struggles and short attention spans. This fast-paced, high-yield course organizes the essentials of pediatric optometry and vision therapy into one memorable framework: the alphabet. Moving letter by letter, we’ll connect foundational concepts to real chairside decisions — how to recognize them, when to test for them and when vision therapy or referral belongs in the plan. Whether you refer out or are building services in-house, you’ll leave with a sharper eye for the developmental and binocular vision conditions behind everyday pediatric complaints, plus the vocabulary to discuss them confidently with parents and colleagues. Expect clinical pearls, practical screening tips and a structure you’ll actually remember on Monday morning.
