PECAA is pleased to announce its next COPE virtual education event: Beyond The Diagnosis: Complex Contact Lens Treatments. Taking place on Sunday, September 7th, 11:00 am – 5:30 pm ET, this event will provide six (6) hours of COPE-accredited clinical continuing education to optometrists across the country and will be presented in a synchronous, virtual Zoom webinar format. In accordance with current COPE/ARBO guidelines, there are no testing requirements for synchronous virtual formatted courses to count as COPE-approved CE credits.
Each PECAA education event provides impactful instruction on a targeted area relevant to contemporary eye care practice. The September 7th event will help you to explore how contact lenses can provide a solution to some of the more complex patient cases you face. We will dive into many medical uses for contact lenses including keratoconus, diplopia and scleral lenses.
Beyond The Diagnosis: Complex Contact Lens Treatments is open to all optometrists nationwide, including PECAA Max members, HEA Advantage members and non-members — PECAA Propel members are also invited to join us. We look forward to welcoming you to this event.

Each case discusses why a particular contact lens was chosen, the fitting philosophy of the contact lenses, details about the contact lens fitting and the outcome.

She will discuss peer-reviewed studies and clinical tips for early disease detection, patient education and management. A full spectrum of treatment options from contact lenses to the latest advances in Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking (CXL) and corneal transplantation will be showcased.

Speaker: Andrew Biondo, OD, FSLS CE Hours: 1 — COPE Accreditation Pending Description: Scleral lenses have become the go-to option for irregular corneas in a large number of optometric practices, but some doctors are still hesitant to adopt this breakthrough technology. This lecture aims to break down scleral fitting to its simplest form, utilizing the latest data and lens design characteristics in order to allow troubleshooting for the issues that face the scleral lens fitter in everyday practice.

Speaker: Caitlin Morrison, OD, FAAO, FSLS CE Hours: 1 — COPE Course ID: 96409-CL Description: Patients who see double are frequently required to use prism in their glasses to be able to fuse two images together. This lecture will cover how to navigate prescribing prism in both soft and rigid contact lenses, as well as occlusive pupil contact lenses for intractable double vision.
