Few questions challenge small business owners more than the issue of staff salaries. While many practice owners express the desire to pay a “market rate,” determining just what that is often proves frustrating. At this dinner, we’ll enjoy a fine meal and discuss together how best to approach the salary question:
- Salary surveys: Are they useful? What are their strengths and downfalls?
- Comparables: When are two positions named the same thing, but really different? How do job descriptions differ for the same job title? How often is the actual work done out of alignment with the job description?
- Cost of Living: How do we gauge local area cost of living and year over year changes?
- Promotions: How do we account for the value of experience, before joining a practice, and at the same practice?
